The educational center and scientific institution “Herder Institute in Riga” (HI) was a university whose history (1921-1939) and contribution to the genesis of modern science have an important place in the context of Latvia, Europe and the world. HeInRi is a project focusing on HI in the European Science Network.
The HeInRi research group consists of researchers from the Faculty of History and Philosophy of the University of Latvia and the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, lecturers and students of the Department of Philosophy and Ethics and the Department of History and Archeology.

Dr. phil., researcher at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology since 1994, professor at the Faculty of History and Philosophy of the University of Latvia from 1999 to 2015, author of more than 100 scientific publications published in Latvian and foreign internationally reviewed publications, led LZP projects, translated European classical texts of philosophy and science and current philosophical research: works by Immanuel Kant, Ludwig Feerbach, Edmund Husserl, Max Weber, Jürgen Habermas, Ginter Abel, Vitorio Hesle, Karl Raner. He was a researcher at the Institut für Wissenschaften vom Menschen in Vienna.
His research interests are related to the history of philosophy (Kant, Dilty, Husserl), cultural history and theory. Participated in FISP World Philosophy Congresses and many international conferences. HeInRi will provide a common scientific, philosophical and cultural context for HI activities, as well as focus on communicating the project results to the public and engaging in the development of the project website content.

Research interests: history of medieval and early modern historiography and autobiographical texts, history of ideas, memory phenomena and text culture, as well as history of the practices of the Livonian bishops and the Chancellery of the Riga Cathedral.
Participation in international projects: Baltisch-deutsche Kulturbeziehungen vom 16. bis 19. Jahrhundert of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and the University of Heidelberg. Medien – Institutionen – Akteure. Interdisciplinary and International Academic Conference in Wissenschaftler, 2013-2015; Project Lead Coordinator of the ERASMUS + Strategic Partnership Framework Program project Medienpraktiken der Aufklärung (EM; 2016 / 17-2019); participation in the ERASMUS + project The Future of Cultural Heritage in Modern Europe – The Center for Cultural Heritage in Modern Europe (2019 / 20-2022); Member of the editorial board of Forschungen zur baltischen Geschichte (Tartu; Schöningh / Brill) since 2007; one of the editors of Medieval Livonia and Its Historical Heritage.
The experience gained in research in the research of archival materials in the Baltic region (medieval, early modern times, 18th century, 20th century) within the HeInRi project will be used in the selection of archival materials, development of digitization concept, implementation of digitization solutions, HI, in the context of HI memory culture and memory policy.
Mg. phil., studied at Riga English Gymnasium, obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees in humanities at the Department of Philosophy and Ethics, Faculty of History and Philosophy, University of Latvia, LU VFF FĒN research assistant in research projects “Critical Thinking in Ethics and Biophilosophy” LU project registration No. VPP2018 / 1) in the sub-program “Language Ontology”.
His research interests are related to the history of ideas, the history of philosophy, Siren Kirkegor, the political and social philosophy of the 20th century, Karl Schmidt, the encounter of philosophy and theology, Protestant theology, current events in philosophy.
